Comparison of different contract types available in media industries-

Contracted employment- So basically contracted employment is when employees follow the contract- claiming the responsibilities and rights within the contract & therefore sticking to the terms of the contract till the very end. As a contracted employee they will get be hired for a specific job- for a certain pay.  The contract itself is between the employee and their employer.

Working freelance- So working freelance means that you are self- employed and therefore don’t have necessarily commit to employer long term. So for example: journalism, if you are self- employed, they can work for free.

I would probably like to first start off in contracted employment for the experience to work in a working environment, knowing what its like to have major responsibilities & knowing how to stay committed to the job. Later on, I may pursue into freelancing because I may feel like I can run a business then and with experience working for someone else, it might be enough to know how to self employ myself. Also with the fact I may work in the department of Journalism.
